Seven of our Historic Markers are located in the City of Athens Alabama. These markers and their location are identified as follows:
Governor George S. Houston Home
This marker is located on the grounds of the Houston at 101 north Houston Street and corner of Market Street.
Old Town Cemetery
This marker is located at the cemetery on east Washington Street between East and Beaty.
Athens Sacked and Plundered
This marker is located on the south west corner of the Limestone County Courthouse lawn.
Trinity School Cistern
This marker is located in the parking lot near the north west end of the new Limestone Courthouse Annex on Market Street near the railroad track.
Fort Henderson (ca 1863)--- Trinity School (1865-1970)
This marker is located on Brownsferry Street on the Trinity Congregational Church grounds.
Coleman Hill and Family Cemetery
This marker is located on 4th Street at the corner of Grace Ave.
Donnell House (Pleasant Hill)
This marker is located in front of the House on the Middle School property situated south-east of the intersection of Forrest and Clinton.
